Carley Cooper is a Christian woman. She was born Carla. About 12 years ago, her friends started calling her Carley, and it stuck. She was born in the small town of Fortune, Newfoundland; and was raised in an even smaller town of Blaketown, Newfoundland. She now lives in Barrie, Ontario which has become home in her heart.  She has her parents, two younger brothers, a lovebird and a dog; and an endless supply of extended family that spread across this great and beautiful country of Canada.

Carley has been writing on and off since her teenage years.  It became a passion and a career outlook about 10 years ago.

Statement of Faith
    I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
    the Maker of heaven and earth,
    and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
    born of the virgin Mary,
    suffered under Pontius Pilate,
    was crucified, dead, and buried;
He descended into hell.
The third day He arose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
    and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
    from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
    the holy Christian church;
    the communion of saints;
    the forgiveness of sins;
    the resurrection of the body;
    and the life everlasting.

Her Christian Testimony:

  I have always believed in God and Jesus; the death on the cross and the resurrection.  I don’t know a life without these beliefs.  I cannot say that it has ever occurred to me to doubt those things.  However I also know, now, that I am a new Christian.  I did not understand the concept of the Holy Spirit.  Nor, did I understand that you could have a relationship with God, or that God wants to have a relationship with each one of us.  Throughout my life I went to church now and then; and on holidays.  I tried to be ‘good’ and to do things for others.  I thought this was enough.  I thought this is what being a Christian was.  I had no idea that there was more... much more!
     Then, on May 26th, 1995 my Mom invited me to see a play at a local church called ‘Heaven’s Gates and Hell’s Flames’.  It opened my eyes to many things.  That night I invited Jesus into my heart.  Even at this point, though, becoming a true Christian... an obeying Christian who is willing to let go of worldly things and follow Jesus completely, as He requires of us... did not happen in one supernatural moment like many other people experience.   It would take about another decade for that to truly start happening in my life.  Over the last couple years I have found happiness in following Jesus, letting go of unimportant worldly things; and overcoming my biggest issues, fear and true forgiveness; especially toward myself.
     I have had a difficult life.  It was a long, hard journey that has led me through a childhood surrounded in illness, negativity, sexual abuse by a family friend and more.  Then as adult; through divorce, mental health issues (Major Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, Social Phobia), a long list of self destructive behavior, a lot of mental abuse by men in my life, isolation, and health issues.  Every time I hit rock bottom, I prayed.  Finally I started to listen.  I started to fight for myself instead of waiting for the world to change so I could fit in.  I began to allow God to work in my life; and everything finally started to change.  God has taught and changed me so much.  The most amazing lessons are those when I learn things about myself that I was not aware of before; such as the incredible drive and ambition that I can have within me.  I am happier, healthier (physically & mentally), I am more outgoing, my health issues are under control, and I do not hate myself anymore!  God is the one in my life that I desire to please!
     Through my journey toward God I have become a strong, independent woman.  Sure, there are still many things that I'm still unsure about.  As a matter of fact, there is much that I just do not have the foggiest clue about!  I do know, however, that God is not finished with me yet!  He loves me that much... enough to help me through this journey and to mold me into something He is proud of!  Not only that, He loves me enough to stand by me no matter how painful His molding process is for me.  Woo Hoo!  He is the God who created the universe; the sun, the moon, and the stars; the oceans, sea shells, caterpillars, giggly little girls, and puppy kisses.  And, he created me!  I am His child.  He sees me, hears me, and He Loves me!  He is on MY side.  As long as I keep faith and a willing heart no matter, how painful the journey, I know that I will receive blessings.  I pray that these blessings for me, will also help other people as well.
