These are books I've read that have touched my heart in some way.  I hope that they can touch your heart and your life they way that they have mine.  I do NOT make any profits in any way from any sale of these books.

Who Calls Me Beautiful?

by Regina Franklin

This book skillfully chips away at the beauty myth; the belief that a woman's body is more important than her character.  Click here to purchase on Amazon.com

My Note: Every woman... make that every female... should read this book.  It describes what I have wanted and been hoping for from God, and never realized it.  This is the kind of person that I hope to become one day.  If the younger generation; our girls of today, the women of the future; would read this book and strive to become beautiful according to God's definition of 'beauty'; the world would be changed.  I can see more clearly how God is working in my life.  More and more I want God to change me to be like this... beautiful, according to His definition of the word.   At the end of each chapter are practical questions to answer to help you do a more in-depth study, and to help you understand and put it to practice in your own life.  Now that I have read the book, I will indeed be going back and doing this study.  This would be a wonderful book for a ladies group bible study.

The Case for Christ

by Lee Strobel

The Case for Christ records Lee Strobel's attempt to "determine if there's credible evidence that Jesus of Nazareth really is the Son of God." The book consists primarily of interviews between Strobel (a former legal editor at the Chicago Tribune) and biblical scholars such as Bruce Metzger. Each interview is based on a simple question, concerning historical evidence (for example, "Can the Biographies of Jesus Be Trusted?"), scientific evidence, ("Does Archaeology Confirm or Contradict Jesus' Biographies?"), and "psychiatric evidence" ("Was Jesus Crazy When He Claimed to Be the Son of God?"). Together, these interviews compose a case brief defending Jesus' divinity and urging readers to reach a verdict of their own.  Click here to purchase on Amazon.com

My Note:  I learned so much about the evidence there is to support the bible and the story of Christ.  I can't imagine there are any arguments left for an atheist who likes to argue that Christ is just a legend.

From Darkness to Light

by Francine Gilchrist

Francine Gilchrist was born into a family of thirteen children in Mont-Jolie, Quebec. At far too young an age, she found herself living alone on the streets a life that would lead her to be raped, addicted to drugs and alcohol, and involved in crime. Hardened and bitter Francine thought there was nothing more to life. Until a dear woman cared enough to take her in, give her a chance, and help her to turn everything around. These days Francine's life and ministry are dedicated to helping others find a second chance.  Click here to purchase on Amazon.com

My Note: Francine is a very dear and special friend.  Pastors Bill and Francine Gilchrist lead a ministry that has blessed many people.  I am very blessed to have them in my life and to have read her story.  I think you will be too.  Francine leads a weekend women's retreat every fall at the Circle Square Ranch in Brantford, Ontario.  It is always an incredible spiritual experience and everyone leaves feeling very blessed.  If you would like to attend please email me.

Getting Through What You’re Going Through

by Robert A. Schuller

Whether you're facing divorce, illness, the death of someone you love, a financial setback, or any other seemingly insurmountable problem, this book can be the answer to your prayers. Schuller's ten principles will take you verse-by-verse through the Twenty-third Psalm, while breaking down barriers to healing, including self-pity, guilt, fear, and the inability to forgive. Above all, Getting Through What You're Going Through proves the healing power of faith and prayer. "To get through what you're going through, you must be willing to be carried, and that takes trusting," explains Schuller. "Let go and let God support you, and your faith will lead you out of the valley into the Promised Land."  Click here to purchase on Amazon.com

My Note:  This book can help you get through just about any big problem that you may be having a hard time with.  Robert A. Schuller uses his own divorce as an example to explain his theories.  As a result, I was able to put my own divorce behind me after years of having a difficult time with the idea that I am a divorced woman.  I will be eternally grateful for this book.
